I was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, 1976.  Since an early age art has been somthing I felt inspired to do. As an artist I have a real appreiciation for the traditional approach to creating images, based on direct observation of the world around me.  As a student I was very keen on the practice of life drawing.  Through regular practice I began to feel myself improve.

The sense that art is something that can develop over time and is a skill that can grow through application and practice has been the key to my journey as an artist. The thought that thorough every study and every painting I continue to improve, gives me a great sense of excitement and satisfaction.

My recent work has focused specifically on the Suffolk countryside.  The medium of oils provides me with as much insperation as the countryside itself.  In the act of painting it is the accidental and spotaneous moments that often communicate effectivly the visual world. It is the the dynamics between the landscape, observation and the act of painting that provides me with surprises and excitement every time I go out to paint.

 I have recently completed a PGCE and now teach adults how to draw and paint.  This provides me with a great sense of pleasure as I get to pass on the skills that I have picked up over the years of developing my own understanding.
