Artist Statement

As an artist I feel my goal is to to try and capture the essence of wonder and mystery I see and feel in the world around me.

I believe it is the skills of selection, composition and observation that make a good picture. These are the skills I am trying to develop as a painter as I feel they unlock the world as a treasure trove of interesting subjects. Drawing from life is the foundation of my art, it is a path that never ends. There is always more to learn and more to see. It is an exciting journey as I feel that the more I draw & paint the happier I am with the work I produce.
The stronger the work becomes, the more effectively it can act as vehicle for expressing myself.
